Driving Collaboration for innovative Results and boosted Productivity

As the landscape of technology-driven businesses continues to evolve rapidly, one constant emerges: the critical importance of seamless collaboration among teams. But achieving this harmony in today’s complex environments isn’t easy. From integrating generative AI to navigating distributed teams and untangling tool siloes, the challenges are vast.

Enter Atlassian’s System of Work, a philosophy designed to help organizations align, streamline, and thrive.

What Is Atlassian’s System of Work?

At its core, the System of Work bridges the gap between technology and business teams. It’s not just about tech—it’s about connecting every department, ensuring they’re rowing in the same direction. Why? – Because digital transformation and advancements like AI touch every aspect of your business, from back-office operations to customer-facing initiatives.

The System of Work is underpinned by three key principles

  1. Align work to shared goals: Clear, visible goals across teams focus efforts where they matter most.
  2. Plan and track work together: Transparency in workflows ensures that everyone knows the “who, what, when, and how.”
  3. Unleash collective knowledge: Shared insights empower teams to grow and innovate collectively.

  • Harnessing Generative AI: Beyond the hype, – how can organizations operationalize AI for meaningful impact?
  • Maximizing Distributed Team Productivity: Whether remote, hybrid, or in-office, collaboration across geographies demands intentional strategies!
  • Breaking Down Tool and Data Silos: With the average company juggling 6-20 collaboration platforms, rationalizing the tech stack is vital for seamless teamwork...

How does System of Work actually look like?

Vitafleet (a fictitious company) sets a goal of increasing revenue by 15% through a 10% growth in new customers via their portal. To achieve this, R&D must enhance user satisfaction, and marketing must improve brand sentiment.

What do we do with all these goals? Stick them in a spreadsheet? No way! The answer is Teamwork Foundations from Atlassian.

  • We start by creating these goals in Atlassian Home, making them shareable across the organization. Goals are now an app that comes as an integral part of our platform—available to anyone with any Atlassian product. This means your customers no longer need Atlas licenses.
  • Anyone, at any time, can click into a goal and see who is delivering work that contributes to it. For example, you can view the R&D projects linked to their respective goals. With Teamwork Foundations, leaders and teams can recalibrate their plans early and often, maximizing progress toward their goals and ultimately increasing their chances of success.
  • Now, imagine our marketing manager is starting to build out their campaign plan project. They can quickly and easily use the list view to add tasks without needing any complicated configuration steps.
  • Developers, on the other hand, love their sprint boards, and the R&D project team can work in sprint view. For those who prefer it, dark mode is available, creating a comfortable working environment as they map requirements for their next sprint, scope platform improvements, and more.
  • Between R&D and marketing, work is being clearly defined and tracked using views and workflows that suit each team. Since this is all happening with a single source of truth in the backend, separate projects can be linked together by their goals, with dependencies between them clearly mapped. This is what we mean by bringing technical and business teams together. Teams can prioritize the right tasks to keep projects on track.
  • With goals in place and a clearly documented plan, it’s time to get to work. The Vitafleet marketing team begins brainstorming their campaign ideas using Confluence whiteboards. Team members can collaborate on a single whiteboard, adding sticky notes to represent key tactics they want to leverage.
  • Once brainstorming is complete, the marketing manager adds additional context to the campaign strategy they’ve mapped out by recording a quick Loom video. Why is this so powerful? Because it eliminates the need to coordinate meetings across multiple time zones. No more sync meetings!
  • After sharing the Loom video, the manager can receive asynchronous feedback and comments from all stakeholders. This approach is much easier than trying to take notes during chaotic meetings where everyone talks over one another.
  • Once the Loom update is recorded, it can be easily dropped into the project status update, keeping stakeholders informed at the right place and time. This ability to quickly share ideas and reduce sync meetings saves significant time while multiplying knowledge. For those unable to attend meetings, Loom AI summarizes the content, making it even more accessible.
