SAS Agile Infrastructure

SAS is a powerful software widely spread for statistical calculations. It is mostly used in business department, but as usage grows, more IT support is required (stable data streams, regular reports ...).

And here IT staff often meets some challenges in order to run SAS as professional as i.e. Java environments. Often seen as painful is deployment (specially if SAS metadata is used) and the installation of a full SAS stack.

In a project for a big Austrian Group we solved the problem of fully automated deployment (including metadata), automated installation, continous integration, versioning (with distributed repositories), issue management, collaborative documentation and meanwhile also introduced a framework for automated testing in the SAS environment. While doing this we could also improve performance by the factor 5 and reduce hardware cost to 1/10 of the the initial state.

Sounds like a dream - this is what our customer also thought when ordering improvements of the initial situation.
