Analytical Data Warehouse
2002-2005 For a major Austrian bank we develop a new data warehouse for supporting the cross selling business activities of the bank. The first production version is live within one month of development. The data warehouse is based on an Oracle database running on Unix.
After the first project phase is completed and the current corporate standard for data warehousing is based on a mainframe system, the customer initiates a proof of concept in order to evaluate the overall total costs if ownership for the new solution. The result speak clearly for the Oracle/Unix based one, the development and maintenance costs are in magnitudes lower than the costs of the mainframe based system.
Short after this proof of concept, the Oracle based solution becomes a corporate standard for all future business intelligence solutions.
The analytical data warehouse underlies heavy further development and becomes also the base for a context based customer product recommendation system.
